Ample tropically sourced air are advected southwards from northern Namibia and Botswana and due to the slow-moving nature of this cut-off low, persistent rainfall may result in widespread flooding over the western, central and eastern parts of the country. WHAT CAN WE EXPECT?? Models are currently indicating HEAVY rain and WIDESPREAD thunderstorms will move over the Northern Cape, North West, Free State, Eastern Cape and Western Cape this Monday with the STORMY weather spreading eastwards throughout the week Our Rainfall Accumulation model indicates that almost the entire western half of the country will receive rainfall, with up to 50mm falling over the central parts of the country up until Wednesday with the heaviest falls expected over the western half of the Free State, northern Eastern Cape, and south-eastern Northern Cape including the Karoo. Windspeeds of up to 60km/h along the coast of the Western and Eastern Cape spreading to KwaZulu-Natal on Tuesday and into Wednesday.
